School Focus 2025- 2026

For the 2025/ 26 school year our school’s learning focus is improving student computational fluency. Based on Foudations Skills Assessment (FSA) item analysis students in Grades 4 and 7 can demonstrate computational fluency using one approach, which for most of our students is the traditional method. To achieve proficiency in the area of computaional fluency, students are required to demonstrate multiple strategies. Thomas Kidd staff will be using numeracy games to increase student enjoyment and interest. This was an area that staff and students identified as a possible focus in 2024/25. The numeracy games will also support students in developing number sense and computational fluency. The Richmond School District, Numeracy Consultant, is working with staff to implement numeracy games in classrooms. Staff will also be working with students to learn multiple strategies to demonstrate computational fleuency. In November, staff will use the district computational fluency assessment to gain a better understanding of how their students are doing in this area. In January, staff will use the district numeracy rubric to assess their students and then use the imnformation from the rubric to put plans in place for the remainder of the year. In May, staff will reassess student to look for growth and focus for the 2026/27 school year.
