Black Shirt Day - January 15th
The Anti-Racism Coalition of Vancouver is proposing a Black Shirt Day for Jan. 15, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. The coalition has tried to get the day officially recognized in BC for this year, but were unsuccessful. They are, however, still promoting the day as Black Shirt Day in the media and on social media, so we are hoping to have staff and students wearing a black shirt on the 15th to support the day.

As you may be aware, a Diversity and Anti-Racism Working Group of Richmond stakeholders was formed earlier this year and we are in the early stages of working through our mandate with deliberate thought and care. It’s entirely possible that Black Shirt Day will gain momentum and have a more robust and official rollout in the future, much like Pink and Orange Shirt Days.
